Overview

The Buying Assistant program prepares you for your first position as an Assistant Buyer. As a BA, you will support the daily operational functions within your designated buying area(s); support the buying team in managing the overall merchandise flow. You will also learn to develop key cross functional relationships with both the market and internal partners: distribution center, design, and production. The BA is also responsible for partnering with the Assistant Buyers on all necessary tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Attend Open to Buy, Styleouts, Design Flow and Finalization meetings
  • Manage and organize all sample tracking and follow up with sample requests for styleouts
  • Run reports to check receipts and communicate late deliveries to assistants buyers and the production team
  • Track overseas deliveries and follow up on all vendor ticket inquiries and Check Net inquiries
  • Take digital photographs of all items on order and in development meetings update with revised samples
  • Maintain product information and fabric swatches of items on order
  • Build relationships with current vendor base as well as update new vendor list
  • Set up new vendors and send them routing guides and pre-ticketing information
  • Enter, manage and organize all Purchase Orders
  • Maintain and run end of month, season and year reports on a monthly basis
  • Run selling reports and distribute to key vendors weekly
  • Manage markdown changes and schedules and distribute to all stores
  • Complete catalog cross reference spreadsheet

  • Qualifications
  • Must exhibit strong communication, time management skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects and handle multiple tasks
  • Must demonstrate creative thinking
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external partners
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Bachelors Degree in Fashion, Business or a related field required
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Education
    A Bachelors degree in a related field is preferred.
