The Business Systems Analyst will join URBN Inc. s Solution Delivery group in support of development and delivery of omnichannel ecommerce products.
Working under the Manager of Business Systems Analysis, within URBN Inc. s Information Technology organization, the Business Systems Analyst will support turning business objectives into functional customer experiences by taking a leadership role in requirements gathering, specifications and solution design processes. The Business Systems Analyst will also act as a technical product owner for URBN s platform architecture to steward software quality, scalability and completeness in partnership with Platform Architects and Development Leads.
Support 1 - 2 Agile Delivery teams in technical solution design, grooming activities, and development as a Technical Product Owner in partnership with Web System Analysts, Digital Product Managers and Scrum Masters
Act as a liaison between URBN s IT Organization and Engineering Group and multiple groups within the Digital Product Organization, including Product Managers, User Experience Designers and Researchers
Actively participate in the documentation of business requirements, technical requirements, solution design, and architecture diagrams to support long-term understanding and visibility across URBN s Solution Delivery practice
Partner with platform architects and development leads in solution design for new features and underlying system architecture improvements
Triage production issues through analysis of development and debugging tools to route issues to the correct teams and ensure timely resolutions
Support the coordination of cross-team dependencies by understanding the incremental deliveries of downstream systems and how those dependencies affect the ability of the development teams to complete work
Serve as an advocate for smart architecture, a scalable platform and extensible customer applications on web or mobile to balance short-term delivery goals with long-term stability and growth
Steward the quality of URBN system architecture by advocating allocation towards technical debt, code clean-up, and test coverage during intermittent periods between feature releases
Assess potential risk against delivery effort when evaluating business requirements and negotiating priorities with business partners
Ensure the quality of and help maintain the product backlog through Atlassian s JIRA issue and project tracking tool in partnership with Scrum Masters and Digital Product Managers
Required Skills & Experience
3 - 5 years of experience in ecommerce and IT environments
Self-motivated with a desire to seek answers to questions and solutions to problems without direction from others
Desire to grow knowledge base and develop subject matter expertise in ecommerce and omnichannel retail industry best practices and trends
Ability to bridge consensus within an interdisciplinary team to ensure key decisions are being made in a timely fashion
Well-rounded experience delivering integrated software solutions over complex system architecture
Experience turning business objectives into functional requirements and feature specifications
Ability to identify missing edge cases in requirements and ensure solution design provides the ability to solve for them appropriately
Experience estimating and planning large initiatives with complex dependencies spanning across multiple teams
Knowledge of project management processes within agile settings and experience working in Agile delivery
